I love this time of year. I love routine. I love Fall sports. I love Fall food. And I cannot wait for the weather to cool down and to be able to celebrate all the fun Fall holidays with the kids. Fall truly is such a fun time for our family.

School is in full swing for the big kids. We just started week three and everything is going great. I think this is going to be a fantastic year for both of them.

Emi started Pre-K today. She has been waiting on this day since the big kids started school. She was so excited to get to school and be one of the "big kids". She picked out her own backpack this year (Frozen) and lunchbox (Doc McStuffins) and even picked out her own outfit (a pink dress and cowgirl boots). I could tell she was a little nervous when I left, but then she found her seat and started working on a coloring sheet. She wants to be a big kid like Luke and Sis so bad. I just love that little girl.

Emi is playing soccer for the first time! In fact, this is the first team sport that she's participated in EVER. Therefore, it's a really big deal. :) Her first practice was a little shaky. But she's shaping up to be a great little soccer player and I cannot wait for her first game!

Olivia is also playing soccer this Fall. This will be her 3rd season with this team and she's improved so much since she started. I've noticed a big difference in her confidence and aggressiveness. She isn't afraid of the ball anymore and she certainly isn't afraid of hurting anyone's feelings if she takes the ball away from an opposing player. She's in it to win it and she's fierce!

Luke is playing both baseball and lacrosse. He had a hard time deciding between the two and since it's technically the off-season for both, we said "what the hay", do both! :) He is playing catcher and is really good at it. I hope he keeps it up and pursues this position because he is such a natural. Lacrosse is going well but since I still don't know much about the positions, the rules or the game itself, I can just say he plays his heart out and even scores a goal or two each game. It's really exciting to see.

And that's it for now! As you can see, we are quite busy this Fall. Hopefully, I can find the time to keep up with the blog a little better. Now that the kids are getting bigger, I love being able to look back on posts from when they were little (er). When I was actually doing it (consistently), it was more of an fun outlet for myself. But now I see how important it really is and how much I will cherish looking back at our day to day life, reading through my thoughts as a mom or the funny little things the kids said. It really is so important.
We were all sitting around the dinner table about to enjoy a fabulous steak dinner to celebrate our favorite daddy. Nick started the prayer and then all of a sudden Emi interrupts with her own prayer. With her little hands folded and her head down she said, "And thank you God for making my mommy NOT have any more babies." Every time Nick would start the prayer again, Emi would quietly say this prayer over and over. Ha!

After prayer time, we began eating our dinner. Emi then started blurting out "BAGINA!" randomly. Of course, the big kids were dying laughing. And Nick and I, in our most serious voices, had to repeatedly say, "Emi stop saying vagina at the table" and "If you say vagina one more time you are going to your room".

It was memorable, for sure.Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-31644877380178607192015-05-26T00:01:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.531-07:00What's for dinner this week?<del></del>Rain, rain GO AWAY! To say we are ready for some sunshine is a serious understatement. It has been cloudy and rainy for what seems like FOREVER. Our lakes are full, our grass is green...now it's time for our usual Texas sunshine and heat! It's almost June for goodness sake!

Only NINE more days of school left for the big kids! In NINE days, we'll have a 2nd grader and a 4th grader! Emi is already out of school for the summer so we'll be taking full advantage of our one-on-one time these next NINE days. I can't be believe my baby only has one more year of pre-school before starting Kindergarten. I'm so happy and excited to be entering this next season of life, but a little sad that I won't be a mom of a preschooler for much longer.

Okay, now on to the MEAL PLAN. I'm going to pretend that it's sunshiny outside and use our grill as much as possible this week.

TUESDAY - Grilled Mahi Mahi, Broccoli and Rice

WEDNESDAY - Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

THURSDAY - Shrimp Boil Kabobs

FRIDAY - Grilled Pizza

SATURDAY - Hamburgers

SUNDAY - Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Fruit

Today, I am finally going to see a doctor about my wrist. I am just hoping for an easy solution and that I'll be able to have full use of it again very soon!

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-34590767254884034092015-05-09T00:31:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.522-07:00Life LatelyFor the first time in a LONG time, it's SATURDAY and we have NO PLANS! It's been raining here a lot this past week, which means the soccer fields are closed for games and practices. And, as much as I LOVE watching my sweet girl play some soccer, I equally LOVE a lazy Saturday morning filled with snuggles, pancakes, and cartoons.

Nick and I have a new favorite show we've been watching together. SECRETS and LIES. After you get over the fact that Ryan Phillippe is a grown-up and has an 18 year old daughter, the show will suck you in.

Nick had to travel to New Jersey for a few days this week, and Emily comes down with STREP THROAT less than 6 hours after his plane lifted off. There is some written rule that says when Daddy is away, someone will start to vomit. Luckily she was completely back to her normal, giggly little self the second Daddy walked back in the door. ;)

Having a sick little all week and not being able to leave the house did allow me to get a few things around here that I've been putting off. I got most of the laundry washed (it may not be folded and we may not be able to sit on the couch due to the mountain of clothes, but at least it's CLEAN!). I also organized the pantry and a few of the cabinets in the kitchen, printed and laminated several cheat sheets for around the house (rules for when home alone, ABC's of good character, sibling rules, etc). Oh and somewhere in the mix, I managed to finally get some shrubs planted around the pool.

Olivia's cheer practices started last week and they are pretty intense. I'm not sure she (or I) realized exactly what we were committing to, but I do know this will be a growing year for her. She is going to learn what it means to commit to something and follow through. She is going to learn that HARD WORK pays off and that if you want to excel at something you have to put in the time. I've been very proud of how she has handled herself during practice, even during tough times. She has not fallen apart once. She just keeps trying until she gets it right. There have been a few tears shed from other girls, but so far Olivia has been able to keep it together and not get discouraged.

Last Sunday, when we arrived at practice, a movie was being filmed at the diner next door. I have no idea what movie it was, but someone said something about it being some kind of feature film that will be in the movies. Hmmm...not sure about that, but it was interesting to see.

On Monday, we enjoyed some time in the sunshine and the girls played "Sea World".

And finally, I made the cutest little dinner on Tuesday. Mini Chicken Pot Pies! They were a big hit with the kids.

That just about sums it up...overall, a great week (minus the sick Emi ;). We have a lot going on with the kids school, I'm chaperoning two field trips, the laundry is out of control, and I'm just trying to get things back in order since our trip to Costa Rica. Dinner has to be quick and easy this week. Last night we had Green Chile Chicken Tacos in the crockpot. We put the chicken on corn tortillas with a little guacamole and lime. They were quite tasty. Tonight it's round two of the same, but this time I'm serving the chicken on top of a salad with corn, cheese, black beans and cherry tomatoes.

What I'm loving...

I am absolutely LOVING this age with Emi. She just couldn't be any cuter and she says the funniest things. She loves Barbies and baby dolls. She loves Lucky Charms cereal. She loves watching Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. And if you ask her what she wants to do for the day...she'll quickly say "let's just go to the mall". She loves bracelets and necklaces and BIG sparkly bows. She loves wearing skirts the best. She loves pretending to be a ballerina or princess or ice skating girl and puts on shows for me. She is sassy and sweet and everything in between. I am soaking up every last bit of three before my baby girl turns into a big four year old.

What we've been up to...

Luke had STAAR testing last week. Olivia has decided to do competitive cheer this year instead of rec. She had her tryout last week and has her first practice on Sunday. She is very excited about winning trophies. ;) Olivia is finishing up her second season of soccer with the Sparks. She has improved so much this year! She consistently gets "a foot on the ball" and has even been close to scoring! She loves it. Nick and I spent 5 days in beautiful Costa Rica sans kids...it was glorious.

What I'm dreading...

One of my goals for May is to schedule dentist appointments for Nick and me. I hate the dentist. Totally dreading it. I'm also dreading my annual well woman exam next month. I can think of about 72,000 other things I'd rather do...like swim with alligators or break a toe.

What I'm working on...

SPRING CLEANING! Every room, every closet, every nook and cranny needs work. So far, I've tackled the girls' closets and four kitchen drawers. This is another one of my goals for May so I'll be working on this every day for the next...er, a really long time. ;)

What I'm excited about...

SUMMER! I'm so excited about summer. No schedules. No alarm clocks, no places to be. Just lazy days in the pool, cool naps on the couch, and plenty of fresh air and playtime. And, of course, our trip to Florida with The Whitfields!

What I'm watching...

Wow. Okay, this is going to be embarrassing. This is what's on my DVR right now. Little Women LA, Terra's Little Family, Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, Teen Mom OG, Dance Moms, Born In the Wild, Secrets and Lies.

I can't wait for new seasons of Walking Dead, Sister Wives, My Five Wives and My Big Fat Fabulous Life.

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-81560930369990653512015-04-19T23:42:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.503-07:00Spring Break Day 3 and 4Day 3...

We decided to visit The Natural Bridge Caverns. After standing in line for over an hour, we finally reached the ticket counter (with our e-tickets) only to be redirected to another counter with NO LINE. Apparently, you do not need to wait in line if you already purchased tickets online. However, that is not what the teenage workers will tell you when you enter the park. In fact, they will tell you the exact opposite. So consider this your public service announcement. Buy your tickets online, and then walk right into the park. Ignore any teenagers that try to divert you to the back of the hour long line. ;)

The caves are always so fascinating. My hair may not agree, but I love seeing these beautiful, natural creations...it really is just amazing.

In this picture you can see the natural bridge in the background that gave it it's name. Pretty cool.

After that, we needed a refreshing, sweet treat. They have an ice cream shop there where they make their own waffle cones and they smelled too good to pass up. And they were HUGE. Emi's was bigger than her face! We found a shady spot and enjoyed every last bite.

Next, we did the maze. It was so much fun! Emi and I were a team, Nick and Sis, and then Luke was on his own. You had a little punch card and you had to find several treasures before you could exit and punch out. It took us about 30 minutes to complete. The kids thought it was great.

For lunch, we ate at my ALL TIME MOST FAVORITIST PLACE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Hula Hut. It was divine. And pssst...we're getting one in Little Elm this summer! CAN NOT WAIT.

After grubbing down, we ran through the San Macros Outlets so we could hit up the Pottery Barn Outlet and the Vans Outlet. We found some great deals and ended up getting Luke a new duvet cover and lamp for his room.

Then it was time to go see PawPaw. We spent the night at PawPaw's house (Grandma was still in Kentucky) and were able to get cleaned up and recharged for a trip to Fort Hood.

Day 4...

We made the long drive out to the base but before we went in we decided to grab a bite to eat. Our options were limited so Sonic it was. My tummy does not agree with vacation food, so I decided not to participate. Instead, I took pictures.

We toured the museums, looked at all the old army tanks, and enjoyed the sunshine.

After snagging a few souvenirs, we said goodbye to PawPaw and started the long trek home. SPRING BREAK = SUCCESSJuli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-28412918163267117882015-04-17T00:19:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.493-07:00Spring Break Day 1 and 2 RecapThis Spring Break we decided to take a little trip down to San Antonio. We contemplated going somewhere different and new, but in the end, our total lack of planning left us with few other options. And, it would be all new to Emi since she was just a teeny tiny baby the last time we went.

On the drive down, we decided to make a stop in Gruene, TX to have dinner at the Gristmill. It was a really pretty evening and we were able to watch the sunset and enjoy a delicious dinner on the river.

I'm not exactly sure why Emi was so upset in this picture, but I'm guessing it had something to do with her wanting to pour salt and pepper on the table. ;) And, did you notice the empty chips and queso?? We were all starved and it was like a feeding frenzy just before we snapped this pic. One of Luke's "goals in life" is to eat chips and queso around the world. Haha. I think this is just his clever way of getting us to order it when we are on vacation. But, whatev, who doesn't enjoy a little C & Q every once in a while. I know I sure do!

And since Olivia got a picture with Daddy, Emi wanted a picture with just her and Daddy, too. I was happy to oblige.

After dinner, we walked around the little town center of Gruene and checked out some of the local shops. It's such a neat place.

We got to our hotel pretty late, so Emi got a bath and went straight to bed. Meanwhile, the big kids and I went up to check out the rooftop pool. They were able to get a quick swim in before hitting the sack.

The next morning, we woke up bright and early and headed to Sea World for the day. We watched lots of shows, ate junk food, and just enjoyed a beautiful day in the sunshine.

We took way too many #seaworldseflies because what else is there to do while you are waiting for a show to start?

Wait time for the mini ferris wheel = 1 hour

Time ride was actually in motion = > 30 seconds

Wait time to get off the ferris wheel = 15 minutes

Excitement on their sweet little faces as they went around and around = PRICELESS :)

Luke and I opted out of the Loco River Ride...for obvious reasons (see below). So we waited and waited and waited outside the ride...and more #seaworldselfies took place.

They were soaking wet! Apparently, there were other people on their raft that did get a drop of water on them. Lucky for them, they were drenched. So glad they have a Daddy who will do these things with them so that I can stay nice and dry.

After this...it was time to go. The sun was setting and it was getting colder outside and so we headed back to the hotel. We got cleaned up and then enjoyed one of the best Italian dinners on the Riverwalk. We were all so tired from the long day that it might have been one of the quietest dinners in Evans' family history.

Day 3 and 4 recap tomorrow...Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-20634253398153383242015-04-16T07:21:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.484-07:00Life Lately

Do you guys ever feel this way?? Like all you really want to be doing is sitting on the couch watching 'Terra's Little Family' (am I the only one who loves this show??) but instead you have three kids to take to the dentist (yes, I said THREE!), homework to help with, dinner to make, soccer games to cheer at, bills to pay...you know, grown up stuff. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mom, I ADORE my children, and I EXPLODE with pride watching them play sports. But...dentist appointments, grocery shopping, dinner making...sometimes I just need a DAY OFF!

I am going on just about 6 hours of sleep (compared to my usual minimum 8 hours) and I'm definitely feeling it. My mood is just off. My sweet Sissy Monster "couldn't sleep" last night. So at midnight, I found myself being spooned by my very cuddly, affectionate 6 year old. And while I couldn't sleep a wink, it only took about 2 minutes in this position before she was breathing heavy and sweaty and I knew it would be safe to <del datetime="2015-04-16T21:09:17+00:00">escape</del> slip out quietly. As I laid there last night, I realized these moments with her are getting further and further apart. She is needing me less and less and becoming more and more of a big girl. And this makes me all sad and happy at the same time. Being a mom is such a roller coaster of emotions. Sigh.

Okay so back to life lately... We are on the home stretch of school and the countdown to summer has officially begun! I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. This will be the first summer we have a pool in the backyard and I can already hear the giggles and splashing and smell the hamburgers grilling. CAN NOT WAIT.

Luke is enjoying his first season of lacrosse. It's such a fun game to watch and we've all enjoyed learning the rules. Olivia is in the middle of her second season of soccer with the Sparks. She is consistently getting "a foot on the ball" and gets in there and fights with the other girls. She has come so far since last season. Emily is doing swim class once a week to prepare her for summer and she is doing so well. In the last two weeks, I noticed a big difference in her ability and she even goes under and swims for several seconds by herself. She has two little friends doing the class with her which makes it even better.

And finally, the last and probably BIGGEST update as of late...OLIVIA GOT HER EARS PIERCED!!! I'll do an entire post on how that went down later, but I will say I was quite impressed with this little girl.Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-82871717350502579812015-03-01T23:48:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:23:58.719-07:00Meal Plan Monday #2MONDAY - Bean Tostadas

TUESDAY - Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup

WEDNESDAY - Hot dogs & Fruit

THURSDAY - One-Pot Chili Mac & Cheese

FRIDAY - Out to Eat

SATURDAY - Spinach Tomato Tortellini Soup

SUNDAY - White Chicken Enchiladas with Green Chile Sour Cream SauceJuli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-35010250284732232642015-02-21T02:25:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:23:58.709-07:00This Week for DinnerSATURDAY - Chicken Nachos with left-over Chicken Verde

SUNDAY - Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

MONDAY - Slow Cooker Jambalaya

TUESDAY - One Pot Pizza Pasta

WEDNESDAY - Bacon, Avacado, Apple Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup

THURSDAY - Cheesy Avocado Quesadillas

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-77673667989721461912015-02-19T05:44:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.471-07:00We're Going to COSTA RICA!

So you know what that means...it's time to go shopping! :)

Thinking about swimsuits right now gives me serious anxiety, but you cannot go to the beach without one so here we go.

LOVE this cute little number from Nordy's found here.

LOVE navy. I am trying out all new recipes from the Mix and Match Mama blog. I like that her recipes are easy and kid friendly. And she cooks a lot of Tex Mex and slow cooker meals. My kind of cookin'!

SUNDAY - Mexican Chicken Chili

MONDAY - Sweet Corn Chili

TUESDAY - Chicken Verde with Corn Tortillas and Guacamole

WEDNESDAY - Cheesy Ravioli Bake

THURSDAY - BBQ Joes

I also made this yummy Blueberry and Banana Quick Bread for breakfast on Monday since the kids were out of school for President's day. It disappeared fast so I'd say this recipe is a keeper. Luke especially loved this bread.Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-36975990113389420172015-02-16T01:22:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.439-07:00Lukey turns 9 and Valentine's Day with my lovesOur little Valentine's baby turned 9 on Saturday! How did this happen? NINE! And so we begin the last year of single digits for my baby boy. I know people say this all the time, but it really does seem like just yesterday that we were welcoming our little Lukey into the world...and today he is NINE years old.

Valentine's Day/Lukey Day started quite early this year. Luke came into our room at 4:30am rubbing his eyes, holding his blankie like he has for the last nine years that he's woken us up in the middle of the night. He said, "Mom, something weird is happening in my room". I get up to investigate and walk him back to bed. He tells me "the birthday fairy hasn't come yet".

PANICK!! It's time to PANICK! TOTAL MOM FAIL! HOW DID I FORGET??!! I'M SO TIRED.

For the last nine years, the birthday fairy makes a visit during the night and fills the room with balloons. Without fail, every year...if you are an Evans' you wake up to a room that has been magically filled with balloons. If you are an Evans' girl, in addition to balloons, you also wake up to the "Happy Birthday Princess" CD on full volume.

Think quick. I can do this. I'm sure I have a package of balloons lying around the house somewhere. I wait an agonizing 30 minutes for Luke to fall back to sleep. I hurry to the kitchen and start rummaging through the cupboards and junk drawers for balloons. No luck. I start thinking of ways to explain to my baby faced nine year old that the birthday fairy stops coming when you turn into an official "big kid". No, I can't do it.

Think, think, think.

And then I have an idea. Brillant! TOILET PAPER! I will TP his room while he sleeps. He will love it!

Only problem...we are down to our last roll of toilet paper.

This will have to work, I think. I sneak into his room and carefully drape toilet paper around the room, across his bed, around door knobs, and finish by taping pieces across his doorway.

I stand in the hallway admiring my super mom skills (even at 4:30am) and then BANG!!! I drop the tape dispenser onto the hardwood floor. Luke jumps awake.

I threaten his life if he even thinks about getting out of bed. Explain that it is still the middle of the night and to please GO TO SLEEP.

I head back to bed and lay my head down on my pillow. Just as my eyes close, I hear the noise of three excited kids having what sounds like a frat party in Luke's room. And in lie of music, Luke has turned his noise machine on full blast. The sound of RAIN on full blast is enough to send me over the edge.

I threaten them all...I must get sleep or I will never survive the day.

I don't think anyone went back to sleep, but at least they turned the volume on their party down a few notches and I was able to sleep another hour.

And that was just the beginning. The rest of the day went like this.

Birthday pancakes
Lacrosse game
Freebirds for lunch
Gat Splat Paintball
Mooyah burger for dinner
Birthday cupcakes
Sleep

And since the day ran out before we got around to giving Luke his present...this birthday spilled over to day two.

IHOP with PawPaw
And finally a birthday treasure hunt with 10 clues leading to his NEW BIKE.

I'm exhausted. But what a great day we had.

Happy Birthday Lukey!!! We love you so much!Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-47851419335233486922015-01-25T02:06:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.460-07:00This Week for DinnerMEATLESS MONDAY - Corn Chowder

TACO TUESDAY - Tortilla Crusted Tilapia (Costco) in White Corn Tortillas with Avacado and Black Beans

SLOW COOKER WEDNESDAY - Chicken Noodle Soup in the CP

THROW IT ON THE GRILL THURSDAY - Chicken Breast, Grilled Corn on the Cob & Sweet Potatoes

OTE FRIDAY - We usually go out to eat on Fridays. Pawpaw made the drive all the way from Austin to be with us while Grandma spent Christmas with G Mummaw. We started the evening off by opening presents from G & P. They were so excited and kept asking if it was 4 o'clock yet as that's the time we told them they could start opening. Luke got a pair of brand new Vans, a gum ball machine, and a shooting game. Olivia got clothes, a gum ball machine, and a set of Neverland Girls books. Emi got a tiny gum ball machine, a backpack with cute little disney princesses, and clothes.

Next, we went to a beautiful, candle-lit Christmas service at our church. They had glow sticks for the little kids, but you know that just wasn't good enough for Em. She insisted on holding my candle and insisted that I not touch it at all. She kept swatting my hand away, threatening to scream at any moment, wax running down the sides and a huge flame dancing around as she waved it excited. I'm just glad we didn't catch anyone's hair on fire. :)

After church, we headed over to Nana and Papa's for goodies and a gift exchange. Emily fell asleep on the way over, but woke up ready to go once we arrived. We ate way too many cookies and snacks and then when the kids couldn't stand it for a minute longer, we passed out gifts and let them go. Luke's gift from N & P this year was a skateboard ramp, skateboard shirt, and a skateboard rack for his room. Olivia got a pink tumbling mat, clothes, a "this is my handstand shirt" t-shirt, bath stuff, pjs and an Olaf necklace. Emi got the cutest hanging puppet theater, puppets, clothes, bath stuff, Frozen necklace, snow globe, and pjs.

We got back home about 11 o'clock and the kids were eager to get to bed. They didn't want to miss Santa! Christmas morning started about 5:30am with Luke waking up first, of course. :) Luke's big gift from Santa was an electric guitar, amp, and headphones. Olivia's big gift was an octagon back handspring mat, and Emi got her very own American Girl doll and closet.

STINKER!Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-1392306252528367222014-12-31T02:41:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.397-07:00New YearWow. 2015. How did this happen? Almost ten years married, mom to an 8, 6 and 3 year old. Dog. House. Yoga pants. Haha. Life really has happened quickly. So quickly, in fact, that I am finding it harder and harder to remember all the day to day moments with the kids. I looked back through the blog and read about things that I would have forgotten otherwise. I will admit. At times, I wondered if the blog was a waste of time. Would anyone ever read it? Would my kids ever see it? Would it get lost in the deep, dark internet? Would it really become a part of our family history? I felt silly, really. I would be filled with guilt at the sight of my kids nearly empty baby books. The thousands upon thousands of digital images stored away on numerous hard drives at the top of our closet. Literally waking up at night in a panic that something would happen to our digital memories and everything would be lost.

But then, after reading back through our lives as I had blogged it, I saw what a gift it was. I was so happy that I took the time to write down my thoughts. The little details of our life that seemed so mundane at the time, but now they are everything. They tell our story in real time, a story that I will not be able to accurately retell as the years go on and as my memory fades. And while I lost sight of this for a little while, I see the importance of it all too clearly now. So as we move into 2015, I am going to begin blogging our life again. For us. For my kids.

So who's with me?? Laurin? Amy? Sonia? LeighAnn? Friends?? Let's encourage and cheer each other on and let's make 2015 a year filled with memories!Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-32852627243917771202014-12-12T23:36:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.386-07:00Family UpdateWow. I cannot believe it's been over a year since I updated the blog! So much has happened in the last year, but I thought I would take a minute to do a quick, cliff-notes style update. :)

Emily, 3

Emily is three years old! Not sure how that happened so fast. She is completely potty trained and has been for quite a while. She no longer uses her paci and has finally stopped asking for "milk babas". It's a little sad watching my last baby growing up into a little big girl, but I'm excited to enter this new phase of life. Emily does not nap most days. About once a week, she crashes in the car or while watching tv and will nap for a couple of hours. She could most definitely use a nap most days, but seems to be transitioning away from it and can get cranky in the evening. She goes to bed around 8:30p and wakes around 7:00a. She LOVES books! We read a book every night before bed (and several throughout the day) and then she sleeps that book. She insists it's comfy and if she had it her way she would probably sleep on a pile of hard back books. ;)

Emily goes to preschool three days a week and loves it. She loves doing "homework" with the big kids and love practicing her letters. She also loves ballet and gymnastics and can't wait to be a "big cheer girl". Emily is such a sweet little girl, loves to help anyway she can, and tries hard to keep up with the big kids. She loves to pretend play and uses the cutest little voices to tell stories. She loves playing dolls and is asking Santa to bring her a doll carrying case "like sissy's" to keep all her doll clothes in.

Olivia, 6

Olivia is six years old and is in the first grade. She absolutely LOVES going to school! She loves everything about it and sighs in disappointment on Saturdays when there is no school. Ha. She is still just the most nurturing, sweet, motherly sister and loves helping me around the house. She loves watching cooking shows like Pioneer Woman and Cupcake Wars. She is really becoming such a big girl and bring her purse everywhere. She played soccer for this first time this Fall and loved it. She also did cheer for the second year. Right now, she is enjoying tumbling and gymnastics and is quite good at it. Her best friend is Audrey and they are just the sweetest, sassiest little girls around.

Olivia does very well in school and loves to read. The biggest struggle with Olivia is keeping her room clean. Despite being so organized in so many other areas of life, the girl cannot keep her room clean to save her life!

Luke, 8

Luke is eight years old and is in the third grade. He is still our "spirited child". :) He brings us so much joy each day and keeps us on our toes, for sure. He loves to skateboard and brings it with us everywhere we go. He has taught himself several tricks, just from watching videos online. He loves going to the skate park and begs us to take him. He also started Parkour classes and loves it. I am amazed at what all he has learned in such a short time.

Luke says he would like to try soccer next and is on the fence about doing baseball this Spring.Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-49245408134939891082013-11-19T05:58:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.376-07:00Luke FunnyLuke constantly says things that make us laugh. He's been doing this since he was a tiny little guy. The other day we were driving in the car to Nana's house. It had taken forever because of traffic and when we finally turned onto her street I told the kids I had to go to the bathroom "so bad" but didn't want to tell them, afraid that they would also have to go. We had been in stand still traffic with no way to stop and go potty so it could have been a disaster. Anyway, Olivia then tells me that actually she did have to go potty but she was holding it and didn't say anything because she knew we couldn't stop. I told her thank you and told her that was very mature of her.

Luke then says... "I'm mature too...but in a bad way, like Halo." It took me a second to understand what he was trying to say. Mature like "rated mature"...haha...such a funny little guy. I love the way his mind works. :)

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-53573959126470915192013-11-19T05:49:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.366-07:00Sissypants.One from July that I am just getting around to printing...love her!

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-71376537547405627432013-11-04T00:45:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.356-07:00perfectly imperfect.there are so many things wrong with this image (technically speaking) that it may have very well been lost on my computer forever. but, when i gave it a second look today and saw that sweet little expression on her face, all the things "wrong" with it suddenly spoke to me. that's what this moment was all about...capturing that sweet little smile in the midst of all the chaos. seeing something perfect among the "imperfect". this perfect little moment of two year old silliness, captured by mommy but not really seen. this "imperfect" and "wrong" little image just taught me so much about myself and how I see the world.

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-24140472023345653552013-11-03T12:35:00.000-08:002015-09-09T07:24:42.345-07:00halloween has come and gone...

Juli Evanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474243190015545900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809654352829884288.post-32621962977628757182013-10-19T06:53:00.000-07:002015-09-09T07:24:42.335-07:00ponytailEm came home from school the other day with this super cute little ponytail ringlet.
